Director Mar?a Jos? San Mart?n recently sat down for a brief chat about the film.

How did you first become interested in film?
The cinema is a living tool to interpret our surrounding, and it is a registry weapon which is attractive.

How did you get started as a filmmaker?
I am an actress which is how I got involved in this art. Then in practice I got involved as an assistant director, which I have developed in several Chilean films.

What films and/or filmmakers have influenced you?
They are many… Chileans: Alicia Scherson—I found her writing delirious and humorous.
Foreign: the film A Perfect Couple by Suwa and 4 Months, Three Weeks and 2 Days by Cristian Mungiu

What inspired the idea for your short film?
I was interested in using the human relations from another prism to introduce us in a private world, without judgments nor slogan.

How did you get the funding?
I applied The Shower to two government funds: CORFO and the Audiovisual Funds at the Counsel of Arts….we did great on both of them!

How long did it take to get made?
It took 2 years from the presentation of the first fund until the start of shooting.

How have you gone about getting the film seen by audiences?
Each audience is different, some become jumbled with the personages, feeling the trip who realize the actors and are others prefer to stay in the path of the front.

What are your goals and upcoming projects for the future?
I want to continue having the opportunity to catch what happens in our surroundings.
