cARTel: Collaborative Arts LA is excited to announce our call for entries for the 3rd annual No Budget Film Festival, where all you need to make it to the big screen are a great idea and the resourcefulness to put it on film (or, you know, a hard drive).

Last year’s sold-out festival featured films from all over the world, with a red carpet and an after-party catered by Whim Kitchen. An Industry studded jury and audience chose the winners for the night, who took home some fantastic prizes and great connections.

This year, the festival begins on Friday, August 24th with special programming all weekend leading up to the screening of the selected films at the Downtown Independent Sunday night, August 26th. This year’s festival will feature more categories that films can win in, which means more exciting prizes that will be announced soon! In addition to the main screening, the weekend will include seminars, mixers, a one-of-a-kind collaboration between artists and filmmakers, and more.

A few rules to keep in mind:
1. The festival only accepts world-premiere films, so the film cannot be something previously shown at a festival. So get out there and make a movie! But…
2. You cannot spend any money, at all. $0. That doesn’t mean your film must be poor quality - we just want to encourage you to stop letting the very idea of needing multiple dollar signs prevent you from following your passion and creating. Stop saying “here’s why I can’t” and just get out there and do it!
3. Your film cannot exceed 8 min.

The deadline for submissions is July 15th and we will select the films that will be part of the festival by the end of July.
