13TH ANNUAL CINE SIN FIN FESTIVAL: WEEKEND 2

The Cine Sin Fin Festival presents two documentaries this evening. The Unexpected Turn of Jim Sagel is a meditation on the life and early death of Jim Sagel, whose fiction, poetry and plays, inspired by the culture of the Hispanic people of Northern New Mexico and written in his non-native Spanish. Through interviews, old footage, and Sagel’s own works, video artist Pilar Rodriguez-Aranda dreamily weaves that tale of this artist who chose to keep his manic-depression a secret, leaving behind many unanswered questions with his early death. East LA Marine: The Untold Story of Guy Gabaldon explores the true life exploits of Hispanic Marine Guy Gabaldon, who single-handedly captured over 1500 Japanese during the bloody fighting on Saipan in the summer of 1944.
