A FIERCE GREEN FIRE
A Fierce Green Fire tells stories of environmental activism—people trying to save the planet, their homes, the future. Unfolding in five acts, the documentary chronicles grassroots and global movements building over five decades; connects all the causes; explores how we got here and where we're going. It is the first film to create a big-picture overview of the environmental movement, bring together all its parts and eras from conservation to climate change. From halting dams in the Grand Canyon to battling 20,000 tons of toxic waste at Love Canal; from Greenpeace saving the whales to Chico Mendes and the rubbertappers saving the Amazon; from climate change to the promise of transforming our civilization... the film tells vivid stories about people fighting—and succeeding—against enormous odds. Narrated by Meryl Streep, Robert Redford, Isabel Allende, Van Jones and Ashley Judd. Directed by Mark Kitchell, best known for the award-winning documentary Berkeley in the Sixties.
