A Tribute To Bob Mitchell featuring THE BISHOP’S WIFE

December 23rd @ 8:30pm

A Tribute To Bob Mitchell (1912-2009)
(feat. The Bishop's Wife)

Join us as we pay tribute to a true Los Angeles legend: Bob Mitchell (1912-2009), the Cinefamily's silent film accompanist who passed away last July. In addition to being the Silent Movie Theater's regular organist since the 1990s, Bob also led the Robert Mitchell Boy Choir in television and film appearances from the '30s and '50s -- and on Thursday, we honor his memory by playing his favorite film in which the Choir appeared: The Bishop's Wife, the 1947 romantic comedy starring Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven.

In addition, Bob's close friend Vince Martin will be speaking in his memory and playing some of Bob's favorite tunes on the Hammond B-3 organ -- and we'll also be playing the Oscar-nominated 1941 documentary short 40 Boys And A Song featuring the Choir.

The Cinefamily is actively involved in the campaign to get Bob a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame; if you would like to send a letter to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in support of this effort, you can print out this PDF, sign it and: a) bring it with you the next time you're at the Cinefamily (and we'll mail it for you); or b) mail it to:
