Comic legend Mel Brooks will be feted by the Academy in a hilarious and delightful evening with film clips and personal stories from Mel’s artistic collaborators and friends. Many of his most famous and outrageous moments on film, both as a performer and creator, will be screened.

An omni-talented comedian, writer, producer, director, composer, live action and voice actor, Brooks has earned three Academy Award® nominations for his film work: for the adapted screenplay, with Gene Wilder, of “Young Frankenstein”; for the lyrics to the song “Blazing Saddles” from the film of the same name; and for the story and screenplay of the original 1968 version of “The Producers,” for which he won the Oscar®. In addition, “The Critic,” a short animated film for which he provided the narration, won an Oscar in 1963.

Born in Brooklyn, Brooks began his career in New York with standup comedy and a writing gig on Sid Caesar’s “Your Show of Shows” in the early 1950s. His comedic and musical talents have left a signature stamp on dozens of feature films, as well as spawning some acclaimed Broadway adaptations. Movies like “The Producers,” “The Twelve Chairs,” “Blazing Saddles,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Silent Movie,” “High Anxiety,” “History of the World – Part I,” “To Be or Not to Be,” “Spaceballs,” “Life Stinks,” “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” and “Dracula: Dead and Loving It” have always pushed the boundaries of humor and taste, but in a good way. There may be no one funnier.

All guests are subject to availability. Check back for updates.
