Mindshare LA Summer Sessions:
Talks & DIRECT Video Feed: "The Mars Curiosity Lander"
If you don't already know about The Mars Lander "Curiosity" - you soon will. Curiosity is currently hurtling through space towards Mars and will be bursting through the Martian atmosphere at around 10pm this Sunday. It's the most complex autonomous landing procedure ever devised by man, culminating in the use of something called the "Sky Crane". JPL is giving Mindshare a DIRECT video feed, as well as a couple of presenters and other video that we'll be showing on Sunday evening. Come hungry - we will be serving up space tacos from The Taco Project!
"NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission is the most ambitious, complex mission in the history of robotic space exploration. On 5th August 2012, the mission will set down a large, mobile laboratory - the dune buggy-sized Curiosity rover - using a new form of precision landing technology that makes many of Mars' most intriguing regions viable destinations for the first time."
""Exploration is in our nature. We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still. We have lingered long enough on the shores of the cosmic ocean. We are ready at last to set sail for the stars."
― Carl Sagan, Cosmos
